Capture Your Grief, Day 20

Today's topic: Charity/Organization

I talked about the MISS Foundation on Day 14 of this project for the Community topic, so I won't repeat it here. Also, I am too lazy to post a photograph tonight. But I love MISS.

Another organization that has become near and dear to my heart is the March of Dimes, which combats prematurity.

And I discovered another charity when looking at other posts for this Capture Your Grief project called Molly Bears. The organization makes teddy bears at a specified weight, usually the child's weight at birth. Memories of size and weight fade, and there is nothing worse than coming home from the hospital with empty arms. A Molly Bear would be comforting. There is one organization that tries to have bears or dolls completed by the time the parents leave the hospital. I would love to do something like that at St. Joe's. (Never mind that I can't sew AT ALL. And I don't have a lot of patience at trying new things, especially those that require fine motor skills. But I would do it for Weston.)

Scrolling through the many Facebook posts today, I was astonished at the sheer number and range of services provided by these organizations. The vast majority, if not all, were founded and are operated by parents who lost children. It was inspiring and encouraging to see such beauty and selflessness arising out of the worst experience a parent could ever have.
